Amalgamation Contest Update #3What is this? In case you don't know it's a contest where I host an event based in our universe. The event is called "The Covenant vs the Citadel"
All of the information around it can be found in the massively long description of these three deviations

I'm also going to tweak the contest a little bit, add in more rewards and increase the time of the event.
The goal: to create a fanart/poster (accompanied by 250 word minimum short story) depicting a battle based on this theme, composed of Citadel and Covenant forces fighting (may include Quarian and Krogan as apart of Citadel army, or even humans/UEGA, but only as supplements to the main three main Citadel races, refer to Galaxy Map description)
Or: Write a 2K word minimum chapter depicting the same thing

The Ismar Frontier is technically an Attican Traverse Cluster in the Galactic rim, but it borders outer Citadel Space and therefore is closely guarded by Citadel Forces. No major attempts at development have yet been achieved, save for the Blue Suns' home turf at Zorya and nearby worlds. What you see before you is a small Covenant Fleet probing the outer Citadel Defences not long after the initial response by the Citadel at Reach; whilst Slip-Space Technology is more efficient and totally self reliant, it's no where near as quick or cheap as using the Mass Relays.

When this small Covenant fleet came out at the Relay they were instantly swarmed by the waiting Citadel Fleet, like all engagements with the Citadel they relied on numbers and overwhelming forces, as well as the tactical advantage of splitting so much firepower among so many smaller, more agile targets. However what the Citadel Fleet wasn't prepared for was a slip-space rupture at there flanks; whilst the Citadel did have and use slip-space drives in this universe they were not as well developed or accurate as there Covenant counter-parts.

Everything went to shit right then. The Smaller Covenant Fleet which engaged the Citadel forces from the Relay had instantly transmitted the enemy's strength and numbers to a much larger force waiting just at the Pylos Nebula. The Citadel Fleet was taken by surprise and was ultimately destroyed; the Covenant's fleets whilst larger and slower were much more heavily shielded and they now learned to vigilantly protect there larger ships from disruptor torpedos with there Seraph fighters and smaller ships, combined with the element of surprise and a numbers tip the Citadel Fleet defending the Ismar Frontier had no chance. From the Ismar Frontier the Covenant is now able to easily launch offensives into deeper Citadel territory and colonies.

Against a UNSC fleet, the alliance could outrun the ships and pepper them with mac rounds, with the Covenant, the odds are stacked HEAVILY against them.
